IT Managed Services/Support Engineer Onsite Brainerd, Minnesota

Position Summary:

The IT Managed Services Engineer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive IT support, network management, and cybersecurity solutions for client environments under the managed services program. This role focuses on proactive infrastructure monitoring, incident resolution, and technology optimization to ensure reliability, security, and business continuity for supported organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network & Firewall Management

  • Monitor and manage firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
  • Configure and enforce network security policies, VPNs, and bandwidth usage.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network topology and configurations.

2. Server & System Administration

  • Provide 24x7 server health monitoring, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Manage Active Directory, file servers, print servers, and virtualized environments.
  • Conduct system health checks, capacity planning, and preventive maintenance.

3. Patch & Endpoint Management

  • Deploy and verify operating system and third-party application updates.
  • Ensure compliance with security patching policies and maintain detailed reports.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate patch failures and endpoint health issues.

4. Backup, Recovery & Continuity

  • Implement and manage onsite and cloud-based backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Perform scheduled DR testing, data validation, and recovery verification.
  • Support business continuity planning and maintain backup documentation.

5. Helpdesk & User Support

  • Provide remote and onsite technical assistance to end users.
  • Track incidents via ticketing system, ensuring SLAs for response and resolution.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and clear communication with users.

6. Cybersecurity & Incident Response

  • Manage EDR/AV, MFA, web filtering, and DNS protection tools.
  • Monitor alerts, perform threat triage, and coordinate incident remediation.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and generate post-incident reports.

7. Vendor & Asset Management

  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for escalations and issue resolution.
  • Maintain inventory of IT assets, warranties, and lifecycle documentation.
  • Assist with procurement recommendations and technology refresh planning.

8. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of configurations, credentials, and incidents.
  • Generate regular system performance and compliance reports.
  • Provide strategic input during annual IT reviews and roadmap sessions.

Qualifications:

•             Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

•             3+ years of experience in IT managed services, network administration, or systems engineering.

•             Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Windows Server, and VMware/Hyper-V.

•             Experience with firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, or SonicWall), switches, and Wi-Fi management.

•             Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, patch management, and BCDR solutions.

•             Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote monitoring tools (RMM), and documentation platforms.

•             Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and time management skills.

Preferred Certifications:

•             CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate (Preferred)

•             Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Modern Desktop Administrator
